This afternoon, I went after the character information in .hack//GU The World. Here it is:

The incredible PKK feared in The World as "The Terror of Death". The protagonist of G.U., he has selected the special class of "Multiweapon". In order to avenge "a certain person", he is hunting the mysterious irregular character called "TriEdge". A lone wolf by nature, he is quick-witted, but he is also bad-tempered, and can snap at anyone. He usually keeps his cool, but at times he is easily provoked. Just what is his objective...?

What does this idealistic girl see in The World?
Atoli is the heroine of G.U. It seems that The World is the first net game she has played, and perhaps because of that, she expects a lot from it. While playing, she met Sakaki, who invited her to join "Moon Tree", the guild to which she now belongs. She seems to spend a lot of time with him. A Harvest with a gift for healing, she has a kind personality, which may be why she does not hesitate to contact even the antisocial Haseo, trying to help him.

What is the hidden secret of his sealed left arm?
This is the man who once reached out a hand to the PKed Haseo, and later worked with him. His left arm is sealed by some sort of large device, and cannot be seen. Judging from his words and actions, compared to the impulsive Haseo, he is more the type to approach things calmly. Why did the two of them part ways? And when they meet again, what does Ovan want with Haseo? What is the secret of his sealed arm? It seems that these mysteries may be the key to the story.

The strong and flirtatious man who wishes for peace in The World.
He seems cheerful and lighthearted, but his determination to preserve peace in The World is stronger than anyone's. He was once a member of the newbie help guild "Canard", and even now, he is admired by Silabus and Gaspard. What could have been the reason for a man like this to leave Canard? He seems to have played games like this for a fairly long time, and is quite skilled in combat, but as his flirtatious speech suggests, he does have a weakness for women. It is not unusual for this habit of his to get him in trouble.... How is it possible that with a personality like his, he ends up a friend of Haseo?

Ally or enemy? This lady takes pride in beauty and strength.
Pai may have the looks and proportions of a model, but her appearance isn't the only way in which she excels. With her quick wits, great strength, and eloquent speech, she truly seems to be a "fighting lady". After Haseo is data drained by TriEdge and reduced to a small, weak character, when he is about to be PKed again by Bordeaux, Pai is the one who saves him. Then, after commenting on the "dangerous power" hidden in Haseo's character, she leaves. What does she know?

An ever-changing odd PC.
Assertive Saku who speaks in Kansai-ben, and timid, quiet Bo. Completely opposite expressions. This is the character known as Sakubo. The character has only one name, but it seems likely that two people are sharing it. Under what conditions do the two of them switch? The sudden personality change can stun even Haseo.... From conversations, it can be guessed that Saku is chasing Endrance, with Bo being dragged along.

The mysterious guildmaster waiting for Haseo at the "Serpent of Knowledge".
At this time, he is the most mysterious character. With sunglasses and a large, muscular body, this mystery man gives off an odd aura of presence. He seems to have been waiting for Haseo to come to a place called the "Serpent of Knowledge", but his purpose is unknown. What does he want with Haseo? And what is the role of the "Serpent of Knowledge"? His calm, logical speech leads one to believe he is an intellectual, but no one knows what lies behind his exterior. By meeting him, what will Haseo gain?

This keeps getting more interesting. I'll have to rework my theories now. This might be tough but I will manage. I don't think I have to say i'm looking forward to any new information. Decent find. ^^

Well then, we now know a pile of necessary information, don't we? ^_^ Ooh, this excites me! We can really start getting all these events in order!

So when Haseo joined The World R:2, he was PKed, that would be when Ovan offers his hand and says "Welcome to The World".
He then joined the Twilight Brigade with Ovan and Shino, it seems that they helped each other out in this Guild.
Ovan disappeared, Shino was Data-Drained, and the Guild was disbanded, this forced Haseo to become stronger and begin his search for Tri-Edge.
In his fight with Tri-Edge, he was weakened drastically. When Bordeaux attempted to PK him, Pai saved him.

And while Endrance may be a boy, (I apologise if my arguments against it were found to be insulting in any way) I still think he's my favourite character! ^_^ It also seems that my ideas about Sakubo being controlled by two people was true.

Considering Haseo is Data Drained in the manga, I'm guessing Pai will be introduced soon. Unless, they cut to another character or some other event in the past or future.

I have a question. I keep hearing that Haseo is data drained in the manga. What I want to know is actually when the manga takes place. Is haseo pk'ed and data drained twice? My guess is that this manga is a kind of epilouge to Ressurection. Besides you can't formulate decent hypothesis with a lack of information. I think that works both ways though.^^

Dragoon: No, he just happens not to have the Skeith (or whatever you want to call it) armor. He has the Twin Blade armor, but is still a Multi-weapon.

Which, by the way, makes me think that we play Haseo as a Multi-weapon throughout the game, rather than the previous theory of us starting off as a Twin Blade/Sword.

Do you mean, as in the scene in the trailers? I asked that question before. It could be that the trailer and the manga are depicting the same scene, only, the manga has a different style.

Books and movies of the same series always are slightly different. This is probably all that is happening there.

Yeah thats what I was getting at. Thanks Fox. It does seem to make more sense this way too. Perhaps the magazine itself outlines any plot points that aren't in Ressurection itself. Similar to how Sieg makes an appearance in the 4th installment and tomonari is in a coma in liminality.

What I want to know is why would they make the Temptress a man? O.o Endrance is very androgynous in appearance, was he simply mistaken for a girl and given that name? Or is Endrance played by a girl who calls herself the Temptress?

The Temptress has really been two characters in the past, aside from the cat-like Temptress, Maha and Mia, there has always been the rather androgynous Tsukasa and Elk.

Now we have this androgynous player who only ever opens up to the cat on his shoulder, just like Tsukasa and Elk. So I feel that there must be a connection, history repeating itself yet again. I believe Endrance is a male character, possibly played by a girl, and the cat-like AI on his shoulder.

We know the cat isn't the Infinity character itself because of the confirmation that the Infinity Eight are all human.

I myself am done theorizing with Endrance...until we see him in the manga. There is just too little information about him.

Vary Good Find. that make sense well at lest we know what is going on with them but no new info on Tri-Edge yet I think if they don't send new info out on Tri-Edge win the game come out we might just have to find out in the game but I do say thanks fore the new info.

Well at lest now we know that Endrance is a male but he reminds me of Tsukasa in some odd way but you're right there might be an Connection with Endrance and Mia and Tsukasa and Elk. but yeah it good to know Haseo is and lone wolf and has a some what bad tempered as Atoli is full of kindness. as Kuhn has and weakness for women but how do you think he becomes friend of the Antisocial Haseo?...as Sakubo is controlled by two people that good to know some people was right about that. as Yata has knowledge just like his name state it ... but yes this is all good Dharma if you like that kind of stuff...now all we have to do is wait for the game to come out.
