Looks at Tokio's attire - I’ve been waiting for the artwork for this to come out. Turns page. Holy mother of wtfness!? People are having epiphanies right and left. Then again guess something had to give. You can’t keep messing with a person’s consciousness without them realizing they, their player and the world are one? Awesome find.

So |<!73, when you spotted Mimiru in different attire in the trailer a while back, it wasn't for promoting the customization, it was her Xth Form! So technically, you discovered it first. XD

However, I'm more curious about those strange looking monsters on the bottom page of the second link. Can anyone find clearer scans of this?

Some of the X-designs look quite good IMO. But I really don't like the idea of 100+ X-forms for everyone... =/
What comes next? Avatars for every character? It seems they put all specialities of every character in every game together, make a big mix of all this and add it to Atoli, Kite and Tsukasa etc. pp....

It doesn't seem like a new game but more than a mess of all the former games and mangas... Don't misunderstand me, since I don't hate the game and yes, I am somehow looking forward to it and really want to play it (atleast to see my favorite characters *still missing Aina*). And I don't doubt that the game will be fun to play. It's just the little problem that I can't consider it as .hack since it doesn't fit to those games which where "typical" .hack games.

I think it only applies to playerable characters. The remaining 130+ should be fine. Personally its more of a shock than anything else. Zelkova was the first to intiate the Xth form but I guess this another manipulation between the player and their characters. For Haseo it became his intregration with Skeith, this time its probably the bond to their individual characters and consciousness. Maybe its a temporary mode. I'm not sure what this offers though, the player can already dodge and use speed dash from the begining by tapping X. As for the monsters I'm betting their the equivalent to AIDA or Data Bugs.

Yeah this answered the Mimiru question. There was an Xth Form for Black Rose back when she was confirmed, but because its so similar it was hard to notice the difference. I notice Kite's hair is longer. Maybe he fused with Azure Flame Kite. Anyhow does anyone have some good ideas of how this works?

The last image is a fight agains one of those monsters, and since its HP bar is so huge at the center of the screen, I guess it's some kind of boss =/

I didn't have any reason to buy this game from the get-go. Now it seems I have even less... the Xth form was unique, and just going around giving everybody in the frickin' game an Xth form takes away that uniqueness completely.

Story aside, since that hasn't been explained yet, I like that all the characters will be revitalized mid-game in a way that only the main character was in G.U. It's almost like 66 characters, at least compared to G.U. You kinda had something to look forward to with Lost Weapons, but this is way cooler...

I don't think the uniqueness of Haseo's Xth form is in jeopardy. I doubt all 33 allies data drain the 8 phases, get damaged by the Rebirth, find inner balance, and are remolded by Keyaki into a Cubia-generating Key of the Twilight. What's more likely is that the term "Xth Form" itself has always just meant a form that exists outside of the system. G.U. did this, it elaborated on Sora's abilities and called it an "Epitaph PC."

What made Kite unique in The World R:1? He had the Twilight Bracelet. What made Haseo unique in The World R:2? He had the Xth form. What made Tokio unique in The World R:X? He can go into the game-

Haseo could talk to a videogame with his heart. I suspended my disbelief so very long ago. Though I pray that the story somehow makes sense of all this, what matters to me slightly more is if Link will be a fun game. If .hack is going to go out with a bang, it should do so as a dignified RPG. I'm happy that seems to be the direction they're trying to go. As long as the game's good, I'm totally fine with an action-packed orgy of characters who don't belong equipped with skills they shouldn't have. But I still have at least a little faith in the writers that started the whole thing, too... Until I see another Albertosaurus (Hey hey hey!) I'm keeping an open mind.

If there's any proof that Xth form refers in particular to anything that exists outside of the game specs, I'd like to hear it. Because if that's the case, the entirety of .hack// would be a menagerie of Xth forms and it really wouldn't have made any sense to introduce the term in G.U.

They didn't have Twilight Bracelets, however, and in any case, they were justified, in that the entire original twist of GU was effectively reversing the prospect of Kite VS Cursed Wave.

This is just continuing the trend of "taking everything cool and mashing it onto every character in Link like they've been doing."

In fairness, Za Warudo has been reading the minds of it's players since Day 1 of the franchise.

Cubia may have been close to that already in G.U. his core had that humanoid thing on top even then.
